Cruz Blanca camps are held throughout the year, for children from the poorest parts of Lima and Callao, Peru. The boys and girls who participate receive all-round formation and care which helps them grow in their faith and cultivate basic human values.
Cruz Blanca was founded in 1958 by Bishop Ricardo Durand Flores, SJ, (1917-2004) who wanted to respond to the deprived conditions in which so many children lived. He wanted to offer them a summer vacation that would form them in an all-round way. Following the explicit desire of Bishop Durand, the Marian Community of Reconciliation assumed the responsibility of Cruz Blanca in 2003, in a spirit of service to the most poor and needy.
